The ASA Repeatedly Chastised Over BDS Resolution

Chastisement

Small Child Being Treated Like the ASA

The public chastisement of the American Studies Association continues.  By some counts, over 100 higher education institutions have now rebuked the ASA for its controversial decision to endorse an academic boycott of Israel.  But even this enumeration may substantially undercount the number of institutions that have treated the ASA like an unruly child for its foolish embrace of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.  After all, the American Council on Education has chastised the ASA on behalf of over 1700 post-secondary institutions.  The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities did so on behalf of 216 Universities and University Systems.  Then there was the Association of American Universities on behalf of 62 Universities and University Systems.  And the American Association of University Professors and its roughly 48,000 members.  All in all, it is fair to say that the American higher education community has widely and emphatically rejected the ASA’s call for an academic boycott of Israel.
