Employment Information about Law Clerks | Legal Interns

Location: Washington, D.C., area (remote) preferred. Telework available for Interns to work from alternative locations.

Term: Legal Internships, Clerkships are available for the Summer, Fall, or Spring semesters. Arrangements can be made for law students on quarterly systems.

Principal duties: Depending on skills, interest and abilities, Clerk’s duties are likely to include some combination of the following: researching substantive issues of federal and state law; analyzing legislative, regulatory, and other public policy issues; drafting legal memoranda and policy materials; assisting in the preparation of scholarly writings and practical guides; writing editorial submissions for news periodicals and blogs; assisting in the preparation of legal complaints, briefs, and related documents; and engaging in social media activities. Additional duties include interacting with complainants, witnesses, government officials, public interest advocates, other nonprofit organizations, university administrators, and/or the public; assisting in the preparation of conferences, workshops, lectures and symposia; preparing continuing legal education materials; and generally providing trusted legal and policy support.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must have excellent academic credentials from an ABA-accredited law school and maintain the highest standards of integrity; exhibit excellence in legal analysis, policy analysis and writing; and display, at all times and to all persons, a courteous, professional and cooperative attitude.

Compensation: Position is paid.

The Brandeis Center is accepting applications for Communications, Development, and  Policy Interns from students – college and graduate school – and recent graduates.

Location: Washington, D.C., area (remote) preferred. Telework available for Interns to work from alternative locations.

Term: Communications + Policy Internships are available for the Summer, Fall, or Spring semesters. Arrangements can be made for students on quarterly systems.

Principal duties: Working directly under the supervision of the Brandeis Center’s Director of Communications and with its Director of Policy, interns’ duties are likely to include some combination of the following: creating social media video and graphic content, posting on multiple platforms, research projects, writing blog entries, encyclopedia editing, and creating platform tutorials. Interns will also have the opportunity to work on public policy projects and may be asked to staff Brandeis Center briefings on Capitol Hill. Some data entry and administrative tasks may be required.

Through these communications + policy responsibilities, interns will develop a deeper understanding of how the law is used to combat harassment and discrimination.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must have excellent academic credentials and maintain the highest standards of integrity; exhibit excellence in writing and analysis; display, at all times and to all persons, a courteous, professional and cooperative attitude; hold an interest in nonprofit organizations; and possess exceptional oral and written communications skills. Experience with Canva and Bit.ly is preferred.

Compensation: Position is paid w/flexible start/end dates.
