Director of Development – The Louis D. Brandeis Center, Inc. Location: Washington, D.C. (Hybrid, 3–4 days/week in-office) Salary: $200,000–$220,000 + comprehensive benefits Organization Overview The Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law (LDB) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2011 to combat anti-Semitism and promote justice for all. Focused on legal advocacy, research, and education, LDB supports Jewish Americans facing discrimination, particularly in academic and workplace settings, while empowering students and training administrators. Position Summary The Director of Development (DoD) will spearhead nationwide fundraising initiatives, working closely with the Chairman and leadership team to expand donor engagement and optimize fundraising operations. The role combines strategic leadership, donor stewardship, development operations, and campaign planning to build a sustainable and high-performing development program. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership Design and implement multi-year fundraising strategies aligned with LDB’s mission. Cultivate relationships with major donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations. Track progress with measurable benchmarks and report outcomes regularly. Development Operations Oversee fundraising infrastructure, operations, and team growth. Collaborate with staff to foster cross-functional coordination for development efforts. Donor Stewardship Manage a personal portfolio of major donors, focusing on six-figure gifts. Support leadership with donor engagement and manage institutional giving strategies. Marketing, Storytelling, and Events Create compelling fundraising materials and campaigns. Plan and execute strategic events, including fundraisers and cultivation opportunities. Leverage media and digital platforms to enhance donor engagement. Ideal Candidate Profile: Proven success in major gift fundraising, including six-figure gifts. Strong understanding of Jewish culture, tradition, and community structures. Expertise in modern fundraising practices, donor management, and CRM tools. Outstanding communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills. Familiarity with U.S. philanthropic landscapes and data-driven decision-making.
