Restoring the Other “Special Relationship” at Israel’s Expense

The “special relationship” has been restored. Not between Israel and the U.S. but between the U.S. and the UK. Obama had strained it by, among other things, dumping a White House bust of Winston Churchill. But now, there is unity of purpose around—you guessed it—a betray Israel agenda.

Following the action by the Cameron government to conditionally end arms sales to Israel in the event of a Gaza flareup, we learn that the Obama Administration has taken even more decisive action. During the height of the violence in Gaza, Israel requested a resupply of “Hellfire” missiles. Chuck Hagel’s Pentagon said no on orders from the State Department and White House which now explain, in a self-congratulatory manner, that “the buck stops here.”

Indeed it does when it comes to betraying Israel.

The White House’s political cover as the November elections approach is that the U.S. supplied Israel with more Iron Dome defense. Apparently, Obama is to decide if and when Israel can defend itself. Contrast Richard Nixon during the 1973 War.
