Legal Claims Against the University of Washington

A new federal complaint filed by The Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law accuses the University of Washington (UW) of allowing anti-Semitism to proliferate on campus due to the administration’s repeated failure to respond effectively, despite being made aware of the issue.

The complaint details incidents where Jewish students were threatened with physical harm, excluded from campus areas they had the right to access, and prevented from attending classes. Anti-Semitic graffiti calling for violence against Jews has been repeatedly found across campus. Additionally, anti-Israel protestors aggressively disrupted a Board of Regents meeting where Jewish university and community members, including the CEO of the Seattle Jewish Federation, were testifying about anti-Semitism. Police had to escort Jewish community members to ensure their safety.
