The Brandeis Center’s mission is to advance the civil and human rights of the Jewish people and promote justice for all.
Through legal advocacy, research, and education, we advise and empower individuals, universities, and corporate entities to recognize and effectively address anti-Semitism. We train administrators to “Listen, Learn & Lead.”
We focus on the law. We provide strategic legal guidance to individuals facing anti-Semitic harassment and discrimination. And we train administrators on their legal obligation, including under the Civil Rights Act, to protect students and employees from a hostile environment.
The law is a powerful motivator. Brandeis Center cases demonstrate that when institutions recognize their legal obligation, they are motivated to protect Jewish members from anti-Semitism. We utilize the law to improve campus life for Jewish students, oppose anti-Israel boycotts, and prevent anti-Semitism in the workplace.
LDB sued UC Regents, President, Chancellor and other officials at Berkeley in federal court for the “unchecked spread of anti-Semitism."
LDB has filed a lawsuit against an Oakland café owner and the East Bay Community Space, alleging a Jewish man was forcibly removed and harassed for wearing a hat with a Jewish Star.
The Brandeis Center sued Harvard for leaving “cruel anti-Semitic bullying, harassment, and discrimination” unaddressed for years.
LDB and partners formed a legal helpline for students facing anti-Semitism. For assistance, visit legal-protection.org. For K-12 assistance in California, visit legal-protection.org/k-12.
The Brandeis Center provides unrivaled expert knowledge of civil rights laws and processes. Our trainings, white papers, surveys, and webinars help institutions to recognize anti-Semitism and Jewish members to articulate it.
