Undergraduate Intern

Location: Washington, D.C. Office

Term: Summer, Fall, or Spring semesters (flexible for quarter systems)
Hours: Flexible, based on availability

Position Overview
LDB is seeking interns for the upcoming academic terms to work directly under LDB leadership. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of media strategy, legal advocacy, and public policy within a national civil rights organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing and Communications Support: Assist with marketing and communications projects supporting digital and social media, drafting communications materials, and other related tasks.
  • Research & Writing: Assist with research projects, draft blog entries, and contribute to educational and informational resources, including encyclopedia-style editing.
  • Public Policy Support: Assist with public policy projects and legislative-related research.
  • Capitol Hill Engagement: Support and staff Brandeis Center briefings and events on Capitol Hill as needed.
  • Administrative & Data Support: Assist with data entry, platform organization, and general administrative tasks as required.
  • Platform Development: Help develop platform tutorials and internal communications tools.

Learning Outcomes

Interns will gain practical experience in nonprofit communications, digital advocacy, legal and policy research, and civic engagement. Through this work, interns will develop a deeper understanding of how the law and public policy are used to combat harassment and discrimination in higher education and beyond.

Development Intern

Location: Washington, D.C. office
Hours: 10–20 hours per week (January 26, 2026 start)
Compensation: $18 per hour

Position Overview
LDB is seeking two Development Interns for the upcoming Spring 2026 semester to support key fundraising and donor relations activities in our Washington, D.C. office. This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit development and provides meaningful exposure to fundraising operations, donor engagement, and institutional advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • CRM Management: Assist with updating and maintaining donor records, contact information, and giving histories in our CRM system.
  • Development Research: Conduct prospect research to help identify potential donors, partners, and funding opportunities.
  • Gift Processing & Compliance: Support enhancements in gift processing workflows while ensuring compliance with organizational and legal standards.
  • Annual Appeals Support: Contribute to the planning, drafting, and coordination of annual fundraising appeals.
  • Stewardship & Events: Support stewardship initiatives, including donor recognition efforts and assistance with stewardship events.
  • General Development Support: Provide administrative and project support to the Development team as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Interest in nonprofit management, fundraising, philanthropy, or related fields
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with CRM systems is a plus
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and collaboratively

Learning Outcomes
Interns will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising operations, CRM management, donor stewardship, and research strategies. You will also develop an understanding of how development supports mission-driven organizations and contributes to long-term sustainability.
