A NEW HIGH: 3 CHAPTERS TO BE LAUNCHED IN ONE WEEK! By: Aviva Vogelstein The LDB law student chapter initiative continues to grow! The Brandeis Center is about to have its most successful law student chapter week yet — 3 chapters are scheduled to launch! Kenneth L. Marcus and Aviva Vogelstein with Northeastern University law student leaders On Monday, November 3, LDB attorney Aviva Vogelstein will launch the student chapter at St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A Catholic school, this chapter welcomes a civil rights group like the Brandeis Center to further the school’s strong social mission and encourage religious and social discussion, for the school’s small Jewish population and non-Jewish students alike. On Tuesday, November 4, Vogelstein will be joined by LDB President Kenneth L. Marcus for the launch of the LDB chapter at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota! Marcus will give a talk on anti-Semitism and civil rights in America. It is a huge development for LDB to have two new chapters in the Midwest. We plan for these “twin” chapters in the Twin Cities to work together to hosts speakers and events, and combat incidents of anti-Semitism in the region. On Monday, November 10, Vogelstein will launch the LDB Chapter at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City. The Cardozo students look forward to helping LDB attorneys with research, and working with other schools in the New York area to further the LDB mission. Other exciting things are happening in our law students chapters. On Wednesday, November 5, Vogelstein will host “LDB 101,” with the University of Pennsylvania’s law student chapter. This info session will be primarily information, and geared towards getting first year law students involved with important projects and events that Penn’s chapter is planning. We will also be co-sponsoring Our Soldiers Speak at Northeastern (Nov. 10th), Penn (Nov. 12th) and UVA (Nov. 17th) law schools We are working with students to establish chapters at Emory University and CUNY in the coming weeks – stay tuned!
