LDB is excited to launch its newest LDB chapter at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA.

To celebrate the launch, LDB President & General Counsel Alyza Lewin will address the new chapter on November 14.

On November 13th, LDB President & General Counsel Alyza Lewin will address LDB students at UCLA School of Law on her work litigating the “Jerusalem Passport Case” in front of the Supreme Court. Recently appointed to the position of President and General Counsel at the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law, Lewin is also a partner in Lewin & Lewin LLP, where she specializes in litigation and government relations.

On November 9, LDB’s President and General Counsel Alyza Lewin will be participating in a panel titled Under Attack: Religious Liberty on Campus. The panel is part of the Religious Liberty Law Symposium, The Future of Religious Liberty in America, co-hosted by The Heritage Foundation and the Center for Religious Liberty at The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.

On Thursday, November 8, Kent Yalowitz will speak to the University of Chicago Law School LDB Chapter on the constitutionality of the Anti-Terrorism Act, prompted by his work on the Sokolow v. PLO lawsuit. Kent Yalowitz has represented a wide variety of clients in high-stakes litigation.

On October 30th, the LDB chapter at Northeastern University School of Law will host Amanda Berman and Chloe Valdary for an event titled “Progressivism, Identity, and the Law: A Round-Table Discussion with Chloe Valdary and Amanda Berman.”

On October 29th, the LDB chapter at Loyola University of Chicago School of Law will host Professor Amos N. Guiora; and on October 30th, the LDB Chapter at Chicago-Kent College of Law will host Prof. Guiora, to discuss issues and arguments from his internationally acclaimed book The Crime of Complicity. 

On October 24th, the LDB chapter at UCLA School of Law will host Rabbi Arthur Gross-Schaefer to Rabbi Gross-Schaefer is a Professor of Marketing and Business Law at the College of Business Administration at Loyola Marymount University.

On October 16th, the LDB chapter at Cornell Law School will host Professor Abraham Bell to speak on International Law and the Arab-Israeli Conflct.

On October 10th, the LDB chapter at Emory University School of Law will host Professor Alexander Tsesis to speak on the topic of Campus Regulation of Hate Speech and the First Amendment.

On Wednesday, October 3, Natasha Hausdorff will address the LDB Chapter at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law on the topic, “Jerusalem & International Law.”

LDB’s Alyza Lewin will present the commencement address at the University of Maryland’s alternative commencement for students who are unable to participate in the larger university-wide graduation program that will be held on the Jewish holiday of Shavuot.

On Friday, May 11, Aviva Vogelstein, LDB’s Director of Legal Initiatives, has been invited to testify at a United States Commission on Civil Rights (USCCR) Public Briefing, “In the Name of Hate: Examining the Federal Government’s Role in Responding to Hate Crimes.”

On Tuesday, April 17, Amanda Berman will address students at UC Berkeley on the topic of of the exclusion of Jews in progressive spaces. On April 4, Professor Alexander Tsesis will speak to the UVA LDB law student chapter on the topic of, “Campus Regulation of Hate Speech and the First Amendment.” Tsesis, a professor at the Loyola University Chicago School of Law, is an expert in Constitutional Law, the First Amendment, Civil Procedure, as well as civil rights issues and constitutional interpretation.

On Wednesday, March 28, Mitch Webber will address students at Emory University School of Law on the topic of defining bias. Mr. Webber is a litigator at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, where he focuses on securities fraud, antitrust, complex commercial disputes, internal investigations, and white-collar criminal matters.

On Wednesday, March 21, Gabriel Groisman – a lawyer, writer, speaker, and the Mayor of Bal Harbour, Florida – will address the LDB chapter at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.   Mayor Groisman wrote and passed the nation’s first municipal anti-BDS ordinance as well as the nation’s first codification of a uniform definition of anti-Semitism. 

On Tuesday, March 20, Professor Oren Gross will address the LDB chapter at Loyola Chicago School of Law on the Legality of Jerusalem as Israel’s Capitol. Prof. Gross, the Irving Younger Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota Law School, is an internationally recognized expert in the areas of international law and national security law

On Monday, March 19, civil rights attorney Joel H. Siegal, a member of the Louis D. Brandeis Center’s Legal Advisory Board, will speak to the LDB chapter at the University of Viriginia School of Law, about Title XI &Title IV cases.
