When Kaylee Werner arrived at Indiana University in the fall of 2021, she was shocked by the hostility to Jewish students on the Bloomington campus. . Her peers had been harassed in their dorms, six swastikas were discovered drawn on campus buildings and an anonymous user on Greekrank, a popular college forum, posted that Jewish students should go back to “the gas chambers where they all belong,” she recalled. . Then Werner heard vandals had defaced or removed mezuzahs, the tiny prayer scrolls many Jews affix to their doorposts to symbolize their faith. And she decided she’d had enough.
